Participants will learn the definition of cultural competency and the ways in which it impacts students. Simple instructions are given to why and how professionals can impact their school community by acknowledging the bias we all have and the ways in which it guides our teaching, counseling, and support given to students.

School Counselor, Holy Names Academy
Emily McKenzie, LMHC is a licensed mental health counselor in WA state. She currently works as a school counselor and co-chairs the school's Diversity Committee. A mother of 3, Emily also sits on the Board of Trustee's at Giddens School in Seattle.
