In our collective mission to provide the best education possible to all students, teachers serve not only as educators, but as de facto social service workers, caring for all students they encounter every day. They are front line triage workers. We need to understand the impact on teachers of working with youth experiencing trauma and plan for the well-being of educators from that understanding. Participants in this session will be able to identify risk factors and common symptoms of STS. They will gain an awareness of strategies to mitigate negative impacts of STS. Participants will have an understanding of the steps needed to address STS and to support teacher wellness.
