In order to keep up with changing laws and educate students about the LGBTQ+ community, educators need an understanding and familiarity with the LGBTQ+ culture. This presentation familiarizes participants with the different aspects of sexual orientation and gender identity. We examine the Transgender Experience and the importance of honoring self-definition. Finally, we examine the California Education Code and identify ways to make your space a safe space for all students.b
