The journey to becoming a truly trauma-responsive environment requires deep cultural and systems transformation. There is no checklist or program, this is hard messy work! It requires a paradigm shift in the way we think about school culture and climate, discipline, teaching and learning, staff professional development, budgeting, policy, and so much more. Join me for this dynamic workshop that explores the 'how' of creating trauma-responsive schools through a systems thinking lens. We will identify tangible strategies to make your schools and classrooms trauma-responsive and resiliency focused. This session will focus topics such as 'drivers and barriers to change', 'using a trauma-informed framework to evaluate policy', 'Increasing psychological safety for ALL in the building', 'effective trauma-informed team development', 'how to sustain the momentum', and more. Protective factors that foster resiliency for both students and adults can be cultivated at the school level. Schools that have implemented trauma-informed practices have had significant declines in student illness, absenteeism, and suspension rates. Learn more about this unique model focusing on a holistic approach which addresses the head and the heart in equal measure.
