Kai was born in the Bronx, NY, on February 24, 2001. He grew up in Cliffside Park, NJ where he lived from the age of 11 months to 14 years old. He moved to Parkland, Florida with his family in 2015 to attend Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.
Since Valentine’s Day Massacre at Stoneman Douglas High School, Kai has become a prominent activist for mental health. At his university, UC Berkeley, he currently sits on the Chancellor's Advisory Committee on Student Mental Health. He has made appearances on various television shows: The View, The Daily Show, NBC 6 Impact, NBC 6 Voices, CNN Wolf Blitzer, CNN Don Lemon, CNN New Day, MSNBC, Al Jazeera, etc. He has contributed to dozens of news articles on CNN.com, Teen Vogue, Sun Sentinel, etc., and the Miami Herald Newspaper called him a leading activist embodying the spirit of Martin Luther King Jr. Notably, Kai has written op-ed articles for the Miami Herald, CNN and LALA Magazine and become a neurotech advocate and corporate partner of the largest brain-machine interface company in the world, BrainCo.
He was a featured guest at the King Center in Atlanta, GA for Martin Luther King Jr.’s 50th year since the assassination remembrance event.
He was part of the group of 100 students who met with legislators in Tallahassee, FL in Feb. 2018, to discuss gun control and legislation reform.
Kai was a featured guest speaker at the Washington Education Association conference and addressed over one thousand teachers on the topics of mental health in schools and supporting student advocacy.
During the spring/summer of 2018, Kai interned for Congressman Ted Deutch, and was a featured speaker at the 2018 Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, Cannes, France;
Kai was the main panel speaker for the Parkland Youth Leadership Summit in Christ Church, New Zealand--He is a co-author on a collaborative piece, “Lessons on Starting and Sustaining a Youth Movement”, a joint effort between the Student Volunteer Army of New Zealand and MSD students. He has been featured by People Magazine, INSIDER, CNN, Mashable, Teen Vogue, Sun Sentinel, Miami Herald, Huff Post, Variety, VOX, Publico, and other publications including the New York Times and Time Magazine have quoted him.
He is the Founder of the nonprofit, Societal Reform Corporation which focuses on the implementation of mindfulness, mental health training and the use of neurotechnology tools for students in grades K-12.

Kai is currently providing schools with mental health curriculums and seeks to provide schools with access to neurotechnology tools for students use to help mitigate stress, improve focus and encourage mental training for enhanced self-regulation.
