Steven C. Hayes, PhD
A Foundation Professor with the University of Nevada, Reno, in the Psychology Department within the Behavior Analysis program, Steven C. Hayes is the author of 45 books and over 625 scientific articles. His book Get Out of Your Mind and Into Your Life was featured in Time Magazine and several other major media outlets and has been ranked the #1 best-selling self-help book in the United States. Dr. Hayes' new book, A Liberated Mind, has been recently released to wide acclaim. Dr. Hayes developed Relational Frame Theory, and then, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy or “ACT” a popular evidence-based form of psychotherapy that uses mindfulness, acceptance, and values-based methods to help many in a wide range of areas. Dr. Hayes has received several national awards including the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies.
Dr. Hayes has been President of Division 25 of the APA, of the American Association of Applied and Preventive Psychology, the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies, and the Association for Contextual Behavioral Science. He has also served on the National Advisory Council for Drug Abuse in the National Institutes of Health. Google Scholar ranks Dr. Hayes as among the most cited scholars in all areas of study in the world.
