Dr. Daniel Stepenosky was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and attended Villanova
University on a Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps (NROTC) scholarship. He graduated
from Villanova with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics and served four and one-half years
in the United States Navy onboard the destroyer USS Waddell and cruiser USS Chancellorsville.
Dr. Stepenosky taught Physics, Advanced Placement Physics, Physical Science, and Astronomy
at Beverly Hills High School where he later became principal. He received his doctorate from
the UCLA Graduate School of Information and Education Studies in 2003.
Dr. Stepenosky was appointed as Superintendent of the Las Virgenes Unified School District in
2012. He received the Superintendent of the Year award in 2016 by the Association of
California School Administrators.
Dr. Stepenosky lives in Calabasas with his wife Sharon and two children who attend Calabasas
High School.
